With one year to go until the opening ceremony of the delayed Tokyo Olympic Games, questions still remain about whether they will be able to go ahead.
The games may not be held next year if conditions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic continue.
But the president of the organising committee is hopeful the situation will improve and has suggested a vaccine is key.
“Whether the Olympics can be done or not is about whether humanity can beat the coronavirus,” Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori said.
But Australian Olympic officials however are more optimistic.
"There will be a measure I believe to be tested pre-games ... so you will be tested on arrival,” Australian Olympic Committee Chef De Mission Ian Chesterman said.
With Japanese organisers to outline the Tokyo Games schedule in October, Australia's Olympic team boss said the country remains on track to send its largest-ever squad.
"We're expecting a team of 480 to 500 athletes," he said.
Australia sent 482 athletes to Athens.
Australia's Table Tennis team were among the athletes who had been granted their ticket to Tokyo.
Michelle Bromley is set to make her Olympics debut after three failed attempts to qualify.
The 32-year-old is not only carrying her own hopes and dreams, but that of her father, who died from cancer eight years ago.
“My dad is my hero. He passed away from a short but aggressive battle with cancer in 2012. His courage, fighting spirit and passion for life is what I admire most and what I draw strength from,” Bromley told SBS News.
“He was always my biggest fan and believed that I could achieve my dreams. Growing up in a small country town of only 2,000 people and no other hard-core table tennis families like ours, we were very much in the journey together,” she said.
“Dad was my sole training partner, my warm-up partner at every tournament, as well as my coach on the bench. He was my partner in crime, going through all the ups and downs with me, but he was very good at separating himself as coach and dad, and never was I ever pushed into playing. It was always my choice”.
And despite what may lie ahead, Bromley said she knows her dad would be proud of how far she has already come.
"I know that he would be smiling down right now... absolutely ecstatic."
