Hip Hop legend Snoop Dogg is not happy with how much the is being paid following their recent World Cup win - and he's making it known.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the rapper let loose to his 33.5 million followers referencing a that revealed a $730,000 pay gap between the US women's and men's teams, when they reached the quarter-final stage. The report predicted an even larger gap for winning the tournament.
"What I want to talk about is that they [the US Women's football team] only get $90,000 per player, but the men, if they win, they get $500,000 per player," he said.
"Them girls have won four world cups and $90,000, man please."
Equal pay was challenged by the four-time World Cup champions in April when the team and the issue hit a pressure point 24 hours before the women's world cup final when United States captain and leading goal scorer Megan Rapinoe slammed .
"If you really care about each game in the same way, are you letting the gap grow? I’m not saying the prize money is 450 million this time or next time around, I understand that for a lot of different reasons, the men’s game financially is far advanced than the women’s game.
“If you really care are you letting the gap grow, are you scheduling three finals on the same day? No, you’re not,” said the American.
The Women's World Cup final was also played on the same day as two international men's fixtures.
World football's governing body responded to Rapinoe's comments by saying scheduling was a comprehensive process that takes into account all stakeholders.
Following the United States' victory, fans at the stadium launched into a chant of "equal pay" and Rapinoe used a post-match press conference to towards equal pay.
"Everyone is ready for this conversation to move to the next step," she said.
"We're done with 'Are we worth it. Should we have equal pay?'
"Everyone is done with that. Fans are done with that. Players are done with that. In a lot of ways, sponsors are done with that."
FIFA has in the past been criticised for awarding just 7.5 per cent of the prize money given at the 2018 men's World Cup to this year's competing teams.
"The sorry ass f***ing men from the US men's soccer team may never win sh*t, ain't ever win sh*t, can't even get out the f***ing first round. Man, pay them ladies, man. Pay the girls what they're worth," Snoop Dogg continued.
"The women should be getting $500,000 per athlete.
"Snoop Dogg says so."
