Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has described Australia's servicemen and women, veterans and the nation's Invictus Games squad members as "unconquered" and "unconquerable".
As Prince Harry launched the countdown to the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney, Mr Turnbull thanked His Royal Highness for bringing the games to the city in October 2018.
"It is as Prince Harry said, it is an opportunity to use the healing power of sport to help them rebuild their lives," Mr Turnbull said.
"In the lead-up to the 2018 Invictus Games here in Sydney, we are entranced, inspired, by the tales of triumph over adversity, of which you spoke, Your Royal Highness."
The 32-year-old prince has started his two-day Sydney trip to launch the 500-day countdown to the 2018 Invictus Games for wounded defence veterans.
The prime minister also thanked Prince Harry for his "sympathy, for the condolences, for the solidarity you show us" in the wake of the latest terror attacks in London - with the most recent attack on London Bridge killing two young Australian women and injuring another two.
"This battle against terrorism is fought at home and around the world," Mr Turnbull said at Admiralty House in Kirribilli.
"And everywhere, it depends on brave men and women, unconquered, unconquerable, committed to the values of freedom for which we stand and which our fathers and mothers and grandfathers and grandmothers have stood for generations, standing up, unconquered, unconquerable, always Invictus.
"These Games remind us of that enduring commitment to the wounded, injured, ill servicemen and women, both on active duties and veterans."
The PM called on Australians to embrace the Games and the Invictus spirit.
"We salute you, we thank you and we will be cheering you on at the Invictus Games here in Sydney in 2018," he said.
