Salim Mehajer is asking us to follow our dreams in a strange video which appeared on the YouTube profile of media and events production company, True Dreams Media, on Saturday.

The controversial former deputy-Mayor of Auburn Council in western Sydney, appears in several scenarios in the video, which has so far received more than 1000 views.

The film begins with Mehajer stopping his high-powered sports car at an intersection, as narrator asks "Do you dream of being successful?", "do you think you'll ever make it to the top?" and "do you dream of being an inspiration for millions of people out there?".

It then proceeds to show Mehajer drinking what appears to be a coffee, as an elderly woman sitting opposite recognises him from the front page of a daily newspaper.

As the woman shows her disgust for Mehajer before leaving her table, he quickly retrieves the mobile phone she's left on the table, and gives it back.
At this point, the narrator says, "not everyone will like you, some people will try to put you down, they'll discredit you, they're back stab you", before offering the advice to "just be yourself, stay genuine and dream".
The video ends with the narrator describing several hurdles which shouldn't keep you from following your dreams.

Mehajer is best known for staging his lavish 2015 western Sydney wedding and a subsequent divorce when his wife filed at apprehended violence order.
