The prime minister is monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms after a potentially infectious positive case attended his press conference at Sydney's Kirribilli House.
Scott Morrison and chief medical officer Paul Kelly held the press conference on Wednesday 29 December to announce a snap national cabinet meeting.
The press conference was held outdoors and members of the press were wearing face masks.
A spokesperson for the prime minister said Kirribilli House residents and staff members are acting in accordance with the instructions from NSW Health.
"As per the NSW Health guidelines, the prime minister was not required to isolate or get tested, and continues to monitor for symptoms," the spokesperson said.
Changes to isolation and testing requirements were ushered in by the national cabinet meeting on Thursday as cases across the country soared.
Less than a week later, daily case numbers of COVID-19 are again expected to break records across Australia after the new year began with highs in many states.
The Omicron variant is disrupting daily life for most Australians during the summer school holidays.
