An avid golfer whose taxi was found abandoned on a Sydney street more than 30 years ago remains missing, with police launching a fresh appeal to find him.
Melcom Arthur Cross was last seen on August 3 in 1988, aged 40, driving the vehicle through Woolloomooloo.
Police say he had just completed a fare from Cheltenham and his taxi was left on the side of McElhone Street.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 172cm tall with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.
Mr Cross may also have a hunched posture.
A family member contacted local police at the time and an investigation was launched.
But Mr Cross has never contacted family or friends and is yet to be found.
Inquiries reveal his credit card was used in and around Adelaide in South Australia shortly after he disappeared.
Mr Cross was involved in several NSW sporting clubs when he went missing and was known to be an avid golfer, police say.
His adult daughter, Michelle, told police in 2018 her last memory with her father was when she was aged 10.
He disappeared when she was about 13.
"It's something that we've never dealt with as a family. You just don't know whether he's missing and alive and well, or whether something has happened to him," she said.
"Answers would be really nice."
