Hollywood heavyweight Tom Hanks has joined the mountain of mockery against US Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump in the latest recording of Saturday Night Live.

A sketch lampooning the third and final US Presidential Debate opens with Hanks playing its moderator, Fox News journalist Chris Wallace.

"Tonight is going to be a lot like the third 'Lord Of The Rings' movie: you don't really wanna watch but, hey, you've come this far," he quips.

Actor Alec Bladwin once again goes over the top as a highly combative and self-absorbed Donald Trump, while comedienne Kate McKinnon portrays Hillary Clinton as somewhere between politically pre-programmed and freakishly cocky.

As expected, SNL's writers targeted some of Mr Trump's more alarming accusations from the latest debate.
After promising to be a "sweet little baby Trump" during the discussion, Baldwin immediately answers a question on reproductive rights by exclaiming, "They're ripping babies out of vaginas!"

McKinnon also referenced Mrs Clinton's accusations that Mr Trump was a "puppet" for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that he "choked" during a meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto about building his controversial border wall.

Baldwin's Trump defends his relationship with Mexico by referring to the President as "Señor Guacamole".

"I also met his beautiful wife, Taquito, and their twin children Chips and Salsa," he said to huge laughs.

While most of the jokes were aimed at the billionaire, Mrs Clinton wasn't spared. At one point McKinnon's Clinton openly celebrates how she side-stepped a question about her email server.

"So you're just never going to answer a question about your email," Hanks asks.

"No, but it was very cute to watch you try," McKinnon responds.

Chris Wallace's attempts to control the debate were also mocked. When asked about accusations of sexual assault against Mr Trump, Baldwin repeats the billionaire's claim that "nobody has more respect for women than I do."

File vision of audiences laughing around the world then appears on screen, to which Hanks responds sternly, "Settle down, entire planet."

The sketch also poked fun at Mr Trump's refusal to confirm that he will accept the results of the election.

"Donald, listen, I'm trying to help you, buddy," Hanks said toward the end of the sketch. "So repeat after me: I, Donald Trump..."

"I, the best ever Donald Trump..." Baldwin fumbled to more laughs.

"...promise to accept the results of this election," Hanks continued.

"...promise to accept the results of this election... if I win. Gotcha loser! Trademark!" Baldwin blurted.
