Most Australian major cities will enjoy a sunny Christmas, according to the current forecast.
The Bureau of Meteorology released its seven-day weather forecast on Sunday afternoon, including its prediction for Christmas Day.
"For many of us it's looking like probably some of the best Christmas [weather] you could probably get in Australia in summer," senior meteorologist Dean Narramore told SBS News.
"Thankfully for millions of Australians, it's actually looking warm, sunny and dry weather, particularly across much of southern Australia."
Mostly pleasant conditions for festive celebrations
Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Hobart are all forecast to have dry conditions, with only a small chance of any rain (20 per cent or less) on Christmas Day.
While temperatures in capitals on the east coast are expected to be in the 20s, Canberra could reach 31C, Adelaide is also forecast to have a top of 31C and Darwin 32C.

"We could see some showers around western and southern parts of the state, a little bit cooler down there as well temperatures in the mid to high teens to western and southern parts of Tasmania," Mr Narramore said.
"[It's expected to be] partly cloudy in Hobart with just a chance of a shower, but a little bit warmer into the low 20s across eastern and northern Tasmania ahead of that front."
In NSW, it's expected to be warm and sunny in much of the state, with the chance of a shower in the far northeast.
Maximum temperatures are expected to be in the mid to high 20s along the coast and ranges, and low to mid 30s inland.
Sydney is expected to be a little cloudy but is forecast to reach 28C.

"Adelaide itself looking at 31 degrees with lots of sunshine," he said.
Victoria can expect warm and sunny weather through the northern parts of the state, temperatures in the low to mid 30s up along the Murray, while temperatures in southern Victorian were expected to be in the mid to high 20s.
Isolated showers over eastern Victoria are expected to ease on Christmas Eve, ahead of a warm and mostly dry Christmas Day.
"For Melbourne itself we're looking at a sunny 28 degrees," Mr Narramore said.
"So really much of southern Australia looking at warm and sunny Christmas, which I'm sure many are looking forward to after what's been a pretty cold few weeks."
Melbourne residents should enjoy a sunny Christmas Day.
Brisbane will be cloudy with a 70 per cent chance of rain on Christmas Day and Darwin is likely to have showers and a possible thunderstorm.
Mr Narramore said there was a bit of tropical moisture and a surface trough sitting through western parts of Queensland.
"So we're likely to see widespread showers and thunderstorms across northern, western and southern Queensland," he said.
"But on the coast of Queensland - maybe just some hit and miss showers - and for southeastern parts of Queensland, maybe just a stray shower or thunderstorm about inland areas.
"Brisbane itself we're looking at partly cloudy and humid one with temperatures of around 29 degrees."
Mr Narramore said northern Australia could see the start of monsoon season.
"Definitely some tropical activity really ramping up later this week and across the Christmas weekend," he said.
"So we're expecting widespread showers and thunderstorms across the tropics, including the Northern Territory, which is looking pretty wet and stormy on Christmas Day.
"We're looking at showers, a possible storm and 33C in Darwin."
Further south, Alice Springs could have a possible shower or storm, the Bureau says.

"Maybe some showers and storms up around the Kimberley and a bit cooler on the south coast, but generally looking like a really nice day right across the state," Mr Narramore said.
"So for Perth itself, looking at 31 degrees there, with lots of sunshine, and maybe just some fresh afternoon sea breezes if you're down by the water."
More stable conditions than previous years
The expected stable conditions in a number of capitals are different to last year, when Perth temperatures soared to 42C on Christmas Day, while other capitals experienced random storms with cool temperatures.
"It was only 20 or 21 in Melbourne so compared to last Christmas, [so temperatures this year are] more stable for much of the country."
