Assistant Minister for Health Ged Kearney has heralded an historic funding announcement for women's health as life-changing.

The Albanese government has committed $573.3 million towards a women's health package which will include subsidised oral contraceptives, more endometriosis clinics, and greater Medicare support for menopause treatments.

Minister Kearney thanked all the women's health advocates who raised issues of inaccessibility to appropriate healthcare.

"For every perimenopausal or menopausal woman who's had flooding periods, night sweats, or brain fog, for women who haven't been able to afford their choice of contraception, for women who've had agonising pelvic pain and have been told that it's all in your head, or just suck it up, that women should be in pain. This package is for you. The Albanese Labor government has heard you. We believe you, and we are acting."

Northern Queenslanders can expect an ease in rainfall later this week, but are advised to remain alerted with warning of flash flooding.

Townsville has recorded its highest monthly rainfall for February, but the situation will be significantly eased as a dry air moving toward the north.

However, Matthew Collopy from the Bureau of Meteorology says flooding risks still remain high in the coming week.

"Extreme rainfall total over the past week obviously has resulted in major flooding. And further rainfall forecast continues to present heightened risks of both flash and riverine flooding for the coming days. We have major flood warnings coming from Herbert, Burdekin, Haughton, Flinders and now western rivers."

Minister Katy Gallagher says US President Donald Trump's proposal to take control of Gaza is not consistent with international law.

Speaking on ABC's Insiders Program, Ms Gallagher said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been clear that the Australian government supports a two-state solution.

"Well, if you are talking force displacement, David, that is not consistent with international law, so our position is and has been very clear and consistent and remains consistent and it's a bipartisan position in this country. I understand Peter Dutton has confirmed his commitment to a two state solution as well."

Ms Gallagher added that the government will make decisions based on Australia's national interest and will navigate the relationship with Mr Trump in accordance with those principles.

Victorian Liberal candidate Rachel Westaway is set to win the seat of Prahran, after Greens leader Ellen Sandell conceded in the by-election.

Ms Westaway has led with over 50 per cent of the two-candidate-preferred vote, after receiving support from former Labor MP turned independent candidate, Tony Lupton.

Mr Lupton has instructed his supporters to put Liberals second and the Greens last in the preferential votes.

Ms Sandell says while the Greens secured a good number in primary vote, it didn't pick up any Labor voters, despite Labor's decision not to field a candidate in the seat.

And in sport,

Australian surfer Tyler Wright has become the first woman to win the iconic Pipe Pro event in Hawaii twice.

Ms Wright defeated last year's champion Caitlin Simmers at Banzai Pipeline, winning 7.70 to 3.94.

Finishing in 10th place last season, Ms Wright has made the comeback by making her second win at the Pipe Pro since 2020.

Australian surfer, Molly Picklum, lost to Ms Simmers in their semifinal.
