The government has announced it will provide $150 for Australians for power bill relief, extending their energy rebates until the end of the year.
From 1 July, households and small businesses will see another $150 in rebates automatically applied to their electricity bills, on top of previous rebates that came into effect last year.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's inquiry into the National Electricity Market will also be extended for another 12 months, which the government claims will help households and small businesses ensure they are getting a fair deal from energy retailers.
Israel has launched an airstrike on southern Lebanon in retaliation for rockets fired across its northern border.
Lebanon's health ministry says two people, including a child, were killed in the attack, with eight others injured.
It was the heaviest exchange of fire since a ceasefire was agreed with Hezbollah last November.
Hezbollah has issued a statement denying responsibility for the cross-border strike, saying it remains committed to the truce and accusing Israel of blaming it for the strikes as a pretext for more attacks.
Foreign policy advisor to Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, Ophir Falk says Israel is determined to make sure its civilians can safely return to the country's north.
“Israel is going to enforce that ceasefire. The IDF is going to enforce the ceasefire, and we expect Lebanon to enforce the ceasefire.”
The Israeli military is still occupying five locations in southern Lebanon, in what the Lebanese government says is a violation of the country's sovereignty and the ceasefire deal.
The death toll from Israel's renewed attacked on the Gaza strip have surpassed 600 people in less than a week since the truce with Hamas broke down, the enclave's health ministry says.
Israel's renewed bombing and ground operations have also evoked fresh evacuation orders, displacing tens of thousands of Palestinians who had recently returned home only recently.
Israel says it will continue with its attacks until all the hostages held by Hamas have been returned.
Hamas is calling for negotiations to begin on the second stage of the original ceasefire.
This would involve a permanent ceasefire and the return of all hostages.
Pope Francis is to be released from hospital today, after more than a month battling a life-threatening case of pneumonia.
Gemeli medical director Dr Sergio Alfieri said Pope Francis will require at least two months of rest and rehabilitation as he continues recovering at the Vatican.
Doctors provided their first in-person update on the pontiff's condition in a month, in a sign that he has made good and steady progress.
The Vatican announced that Francis would appear on Sunday morning to bless the faithful from his 10th-floor suite at the hospital.
Oscar Piastri has taken the first pole position of his Formula One career for the Chinese Grand Prix.
On Saturday, Piastri crossed the line in Shanghai behind Lewis Hamilton, who delivered the first win of his Ferrari career in the first sprint of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Piastri crossed the line 6.8 seconds behind Hamilton after passing Red Bull's Max Verstappen on the 15th lap.
Following the sprint, Piastri said Sunday's competition would be tight, but the McLaren team had promising speed.
"I think it was a really productive sprint, obviously finishing second is always a great result and yeah I think I really learnt a lot in that one. And I think as much as the result is a nice thing the way I got the result is an encouraging thing. So yeah, we didn't quite have enough pace for Lewis out front but – no I think we've got some good ideas for this afternoon and tomorrow and see if we can go one spot better."
