New polling suggests Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has increased his lead over Opposition leader Peter Dutton.
A survey conducted by Resolve Strategic for Nine newspapers indicates voters have lifted Labor to a powerful pre-election lead of 53.5 per cent in two-party terms, over the Coalition's 46.5 per cent.
Labor has increased its primary vote from 29 to 31 per cent in recent weeks, while the Coalition’s has fallen from 37 to 34 per cent.
Responding to questions over comments he made suggesting a potential third term, Mr Albanese told Channel 7's Sunrise program he wasn't getting ahead of himself.
"We've got a big mountain to climb. I simply have confirmed that I intend to serve a full term if I have the great honor of being reelected. But the last time a Prime Minister was reelected, having served a full term was way back in 2004. So that puts in context how tough it is."
