A South Korean company has been chosen to build infantry fighting vehicles for the Australian Army.
The 129 Red Back vehicles will be built in the Victorian city of Geelong by Hanwha Australia at a cost of up to $7-billion dollars.
The Minister for Defence Industry, Pat Conroy, expects the first vehicles to be delivered in early 2027.
"The state-of-the-art armoured vehicles will come with the latest generation armour, cannon and missiles providing the protection, mobility and fire-power needed by soldiers in close combat."
A man has been shot dead in Sydney's southwest after a confrontation with two men.
