From Ali Wong to Aziz Ansari: Jokes on race from around the world

For some comedians, it's a no-go zone. For others, joking about race isn't as black and white.

Openly talking, critiquing and commenting on race - from prejudicial treatment to stereotypes - made comedians like Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock legends of the game.

It's 2017, the scope for what's funny and what's on the nose has expanded and so too have the comedians discussing race. We took a look at some of the recent skits that tackle the tricky subject.

Wanda Sykes: Reverse Racism

“Isn’t ‘reverse racism’ when a racist is nice to somebody else?”

Louis CK: On Being White

"God, I love being white. Seriously, if you’re not white, you’re missing out."

Aamer Rahman: Reverse Racism

“I believe in ‘reverse racism’. I just need a time machine.”

Ali Wong: On Marriage

“It can be nice to be with somebody of your own race. The advantage is: you get to go home and be racist together.”

Michael Che: Black Lives Matter

“’All Lives Matter’. Sersiouly? That would be like, if your wife came up to you and said, “Do you love me?” and you said, “Baby, I love everybody! What are you talking about?”

Khaled Khalafalla: Not black enough

“In Australia you can’t be white and make black jokes and you can’t be black…”

Aziz Ansari: SNL opening monologue

"If you think about it, Donald Trump is basically the Chris Brown of politics. And “Make America Great Again” is his “These hoes ain’t loyal.”
