GoFundMe's decision to shut down Folau's crowdfunding campaign has seen strong reaction from both sides of the debate.

GoFundMe Australia has shut down Israel Folau's controversial campaign to raise money for his legal fight against Rugby Australia, promising to issue refunds to thousands of donors.

After six days online, the company says the campaign violated its terms of service.

Naturally, the decision has prompted a whole heap of reaction online - both from Folau critics and supporters.

From politicians, to musicians, to punters: here's how Australia's reacting to the news.

Many have welcomed the news:

It seems others don't feel too bad for the rugby-playing millionaire.
It didn't take long for satirical hot takes, courtesy of Betoota Advocate.
It seems even mother nature might have had a response.

But there are others who’ve jumped to Folau’s defence:

One Nation NSW Senator Mark Latham says the decision shows a 'hierarchy of identities' in Australia.
Journalist Miranda Devine was also not impressed with the move.
Others criticised what they say is the 'censorship' of free speech.
