Australia and China strengthen ties and reset relationship

China's most senior politician to visit Australia in seven years has been treated to a full ceremonial reception in Canberra. While Communist Party supporters came in their hundreds to celebrate, they clashed with protesters representing the Uyghur, Tibetan and Hong Kong communities. Police made one arrest and had to physically separate the groups. Inside, trade ties were celebrated but Australia's Prime Minister also raised human rights abuses and threatening actions by the Chinese military.
