The extent of Australia’s rental crisis to be laid bare in a new Senate inquiry

The cost of rent is skyrocketing in Australia. In the past 12 months, the average weekly rent has jumped $63. To slow the rise, the Greens are putting pressure on the Labor government to implement rent controls. But experts have urged caution, saying this policy often has unintended consequences.
