Garma endures as a cross cultural voice for Indigenous aspiration
Published 3 August 2023, 9:37 am
The Garma festival is an important gathering of First Nations people held at Gulkula, in the Northern Territory’s East Arnhem Land. It began as a small scale event in 1999, led by the late Yolngu leader Yunupingu. But the mission of its founders remains - a cross cultural meeting of leaders to discuss improving standards of living for all First Nations people. A warning to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers that the following story contains images of someone who has died.
