Thousands of people have attended a joint military-civilian parade in Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. The final offensive by Communist forces into what was then known as Saigon led to the defeat of the US-backed South Vietnamese government and the country's reunification, after decades of war.
