How WA's new federal seat of Bullwinkel could impact the upcoming federal election
Published
The race for Bullwinkel is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable contests in the upcoming federal election. The brand new electorate was created to reflect Western Australia's growing population. It’s named in honour of wartime military nurse Lieutenant Colonel Vivian Bullwinkel, who survived the Bangka Island massacre in Indonesia during World War II. The electorate has a diverse mix of rural and suburban voters. Candidates include a local nurse, a former journalist and Afghanistan veteran, and a high-profile former state opposition leader.
