There's been 323 drowning deaths in Australia in the past year, a 16% increase from the 10-year average. As summer fast approaches, authorities are urging the public to take personal responsibility to keep themselves safe. Far away from the beaches, some communities are organising initiatives of their own to teach people skills that could save lives.
