A student-led protest in Hong Kong had its beginnings 10 years ago, becoming a global symbol for peaceful resistance. Several of the movement's leaders were later convicted of public nuisance charges and sentenced to jail. While it's been described as a watershed moment for the pro-democracy movement in China's special administrative region, freedoms have further eroded since then.
