The ambassador of - an initiative of the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC) - says the day is "all about celebrating and supporting the services that empower our little kids to have big futures."
This year the theme is 'Little People, Big Futures' to encourage "our kids stand stall and feel connected and proud in their culture," Mr Dempsey said in a press video.

Events were held across the country on Tuesday to celebrate the occassion, with this year's national event launched in Perth's Swan Valley by Indigenous MP Ken Wyatt and SNAICC national executive Dawn Wallam.
The day is an opportunity for all Australians to show support for Indigenous kids and provides an opportunity to learn about the vital impact family, community and culture play in our children's lives.
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day is celebrated on August 4 each year, providing people across Australia the opportunity to celebrate the strengths and culture of our children.
