Ballin Out will be coming to you every Tuesday bringing you news around the NBA, reviews of the weekend games in the NBA and NBL and also what’s coming up the follow week and where you can watch it.
In the latest episode the Ballin Out crew reviews the Brooklyn Nets/San Antonio Spurs game and the LA Lakers/Denver Nuggets game. They also cover the Australian Indigenous Basketball tournament in Cairns, recent proposals for the NBA and the current standings in the NBL.

Meet Your Hosts
Grayson McCarthy-Grogan is a proud Yanyuwa, Garrawa and Kuku-Yalanji man, and has been a Digital Producer at NITV for nearly two years. Basketball has been apart of his life for as long as he can remember, whether it was playing in the park with friends and family or playing NBA games like NBA2K.
“My parents got me and my brother into basketball in 2004 when I was about six-years-old and we both fell in love with it and then growing up we had our PlayStations and all our friends loved basketball as well so NBA2K became a natural occurrence whenever we’d go to a mates house or they came to ours.”
Grayson is a Lakers fan and says that Tracy McGrady and Kobe Bryant were his two favourite players to watch when he was younger. Now for Grayson, Boxing Day is the best day of year due to the NBA games held on Christmas in the United States.
“Since about 2011 or 2012, the Christmas day games became a tradition where we’d watch the games together and have our own little rivalries between us on which superstar would carry their team to a win on Christmas day. I loved the Golden State and Cavs era the best because half of our group would back LeBron James and the others would back Stephen Curry and it was just really fun holiday tradition.”
Jaden Weldon is a proud Wiradjuri, Dunghutti and Gumbaynggirr man, born and raised in Sydney. Jaden lives and breathes basketball and has even played at the College level in the United States.

Jaden also represented his people by playing for the Australian Indigenous Basketball team earlier this year. He now lives in Melbourne and plays in the NBL1, which is a feeder league into the NBL, similar to the G-League for the NBA.
Jaden says for him, basketball has created friendships for life.
“My favourite thing about basketball is the whole world plays it and it brings a lot of people together.”
In the NBA, Jaden favourite player of all time is Allen Iverson and supports the Philadelphia 76er’s. He’s backing them to win the Championship this year after just missing out on a chance at the Finals last year. One of the things he loves about the NBA is the rivalry you grow among friends.
“My favourite thing about the NBA is all the arguments you have with your mates throughout the season.”
With the 2019-2020 season being a shake-up in the NBA with all the trades that happened to superstars moving around and teaming up, it’s truly anyone’s game at this point.
Daniel Gallahar is the Managing Digital Producer at NITV who was raised in the Western Sydney suburb of Parramatta. Having grown up in the West, sports was a part of everyday life so for him it was natural to follow such a big movement such as the NBA and NBL. One of earliest and fondest memories of primary school was having Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze visit and sign an autograph.

"I remember we had this half court in our playground at primary school and all the older kids would play there. It seemed like it was the coolest thing in the world and then when Andrew Gaze who was playing for the Kings at the time visited and signed an autograph for me, I was hooked for life."
Daniel was an avid Raptors fan but after seeing them win a championship no one expected them to win he moved his attention to his second favourite team, the New Orleans Pelicans.
"The Raptors winning the 2018/2019 season was incredible. For years I followed the team and to see them take it out was one of my most memorable sporting moments. Now that the Raptors have had their glory and are unlikely to replicate it for years to come, I want to turn my attention to my second team, the New Orleans Pelicans. Too bad their season hasn't taken off the way they would have liked it to."
