Emily Wurramara has announced she will embark on a round of encore tour dates in February 2025 off the back of her historic win at the ARIAs last month.

The Warnindhilyagwa author, activist and artist from from Groote Eylandt & Milyakburra/Bickerton Island, was awarded Best Adult Contemporary for her album NARA.

With the win, Wurramara has officially etched her name in the history books as the first Indigenous woman to win the category since the award's inception in 1987.

Wurramara said she was honoured to receive the award.

"I'd just like to acknowledge all the Elders and all the mob who came here in order for me to be here," she said in a social post.

"NARA is a big album for me, and I am so so honoured to be receiving this nod and recognition - big love, and thanks everyone for the support."
The tour, which kicks off in Naarm/Melbourne on 7 February 2025, will see Wurramara also perform headline shows on Dharawal Country/Wollongong, Ngunnawal Country/Canberra as well as festival performances at Treaty Day Out, WOMADelaide, Perth Festival and Riverboats Music Festival.

NARA, self-described as a "rebirth" and titled with an Anindilyakwa word meaning 'nothing', debuted at #17 on the ARIA's Aus Album chart on 2 September and received glowing reviews from Rolling Stone, The Age, The Australian and more.

NARA is Wurramara's second album (following her 2018 debut, Milyakburra) and traces intense highs and lows. From winning accolades and taking her music across the world, losing her house in a fire, giving birth to her daughter and struggling with her mental health.

The album serves as a reflection of Wurramara's journey that led to her ultimate realisation: "it was when I had nothing, I realised I had everything."
