The six-day Spirit Festival, South Australia’s premier Indigenous cultural event, has got all you could want to keep you busy from Tuesday 16 to Sunday 21, February.

Art

an exhibition showcasing Aboriginal ghost stories and other scary matter will delight at the Kaurna Gallery. Featuring renowned Aboriginal artists including Bronwyn Bancroft, Joel Birnie and Destiny Deacon, it is a highly anticipated inclusion in the upcoming .

Workshops

Songwriting to weaving, theatre to face-painting, storytelling to cooking classes: the Spirit Festival has you covered for learning a little bit of culture. With workshops running all week, don’t forget to before heading along to the festival precinct for some fun for all ages.

Wednesday 17- Sunday 21 February

Music

A of hip hop, an all-day and a smooth ensure the tunes will be in abundant supply this year. Performances from favourites Casey Donovan, MC Philly and Kalh Wallis of ‘The Medics’ fame are going to light up the stage, with traditional dance performances by local ensembles captivating the crowds on the ground.

Theatre

Writer and actress Waiata Telfer, a Narrunga-Kaurna woman of Burmese-British ancestry, presents a story about family, identity and the courage to make a change. Incorporating the Kaurna language as well as music, movement and a deadly sense of humour, this one-woman show is on at the Tandanya Theatre.

Film

Saturday afternoon sees a showcase of short films at the Tandanya Theatre including performance clips from Kurruru Youth Performing Arts group, documentaries of cultural programs and dramatic biopics.

Comedy

The South Australian final of the comedy competition will see the cheeky and loud, black and proud out in force. With a $2000 prize and a ticket to the Grand Final at the Melbourne Comedy Festival up for grabs, the cream of local comedians will front up to the crowds on Friday night at the Tandanya Theatre.

Food

Feast and feel the grooves at the free Hungry Mob Cook Up on Thursday at the Tandanya Art Café. With favourites such as damper and kangaroo, and a performance by Robert K Champion this cook up will leave you fully satisfied.
