Is the Hayne Plane worth the hunt?

Jarryd Hayne left the NRL a superstar, but upon his possible return, is he the same player? League Nation Live panellist George Rose isn't so sure.

Former NRL star George Rose is unsure whether Jarryd Hayne can return to his Dally M winning form should the superstar choose to return to the NRL.

Hayne has spent almost two years away from the game, pursuing both an NFL and Olympic dream, and Rose told NITV’s League Nation Live the current version of the ‘Hayne Plane’ is very different.

“He’s had a lot of time away from the game. He’s been training different, specific for NFL and then Rugby Sevens.

“He’s going to have a different body type, he’s going to be different from how he was,” said Rose.

The NRL cult hero also isn’t entirely sure Parramatta need to spend the reported $1 million it will take to land Hayne, saying the  Eels have enough talent at their disposal already.

“The thing I like about the Parramatta team now is I think they’re good enough now with the squad they’ve got to mix it the best teams.

“I don’t think they need another superstar in the mix.

Fellow League Nation Live member Scott Prince does believe the Eels need hand, but says the Eels need to lure Hayne for more off-field reasons.

“I think he’ll lift them another gear. I think it’s something they need right now after all the dramas, mainly for the fans and supporters. They see the Hayne Plane is back and here we go”.
