The series combines adventure, Indigenous culture and science as ABC’s Kayne Tremills and Wiradjuri actor Kamil Ellis explore Australia’s natural beauty. Each week Kamil sets Kayne a challenge to hunt for a different species of unique Australian wildlife in scenic locations that have included Uluru, Cradle Mountain and Heron Island.
The current series sees the boys journey beyond Arnhem land to join the Yolgnu mob as Kayne tries to become a Crocodile Island Ranger and travel to Tasmania to give a platypus a pregnancy test.
The director of the second series, Mark Bellamy of , was chosen by the special jury to receive the award. The first series of the program also won a silver award at the 2013 Festival and was selected as a finalist in the children’s television category at the prestigious Prix Jeunesse awards in Munich.
'Bushwhacked!' has been screened in 40 countries world-wide with international viewers as far afield as Brunei and Germany.
