There’ll be no easy return to the top side for West Coast Eagles recruit Lewis Jetta, who has been asked to find form in the WAFL.
Jetta made the move to his native Western Australia in the off-season, after a long spell with the Sydney Swans, but so far has failed to fire.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a lean opening to the season, forcing the Eagles to drop the star, and with West Coast thumping St Kilda by over one hundred points in his absence, a quick recall for Jetta isn’t assured.
The flyer was handy for East Perth last weekend, with 29 disposals, but Eagles Coach Adam Simpson told that Jetta needs to do more.
"He played well on the weekend," said Simpson.
"He just got his hands on the ball. 29 possessions in a team he'd never played in with different teammates, albeit guys he trains with a lot, and just going back and trying to play our way and play to his strengths as well.
I think he ticked a lot of boxes in that area. To say it all turns around in one week is a little bit off.
The West Coast are expected to make no changes for the trip to Port Adelaide and given the likes of Xavier Ellis, Tom Cole, Tom Barrass and Jackson Nelson are also pushing for selection, Jetta may be in for an extended stay in the Reserves.
