Just when you thought the NRL had enough off-field behavioral problems, the player stupidity level has reached a new high, or is that low.

This time, North Queensland Cowboys forward Jason Taumololo has been charged alongside four other players for ‘allegedly’ throwing eggs at cars in Townsville on Wednesday night.

This is after Taumololo was paraded front and centre by the National Rugby League at the launch of the finals series on Monday in Sydney.

Taumololo represented the Cowboys at the finals launch, with leaders Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott deemed unavailable.

The New Zealand international is one of five Cowboys players who will face court for the incident with the group reportedly containing youngsters Tautau Moga and boom rookie Kalyn Ponga.

Queensland Police released a statement confirming the incident and the charges levied.

Players allegedly purchased eggs from a Hugh Street convenience store and threw them at five vehicles parked nearby, damaging the cars, before driving away.

Police stopped a vehicle containing the players around 11.30pm Wednesday for the purpose of a random breath test. It was then that a member of the public advised officers that the group was involved in the earlier incident in Hugh Street.

A search of the vehicle found a number of egg containers.

The group of players has all been issued with Notices to Appear for two counts of willful damage.
