A Northern Territory police officer has been fined for assaulting two Aboriginal women and a man while responding to a domestic violence call out, last year.
Senior Constable Raymond Nielson-Scott was fined $4000 in the Local Darwin Court after being found guilty of assault and aggravated assault.
The court heard that Nielson-Scott had responded to a domestic violence incident at a unit in Darwin when he pushed the two women, a mother and daughter.
He claimed one of the women spat on him, but Judge Elisabeth Armitage said, in handing down her ruling, rejected this assertion, finding him guilty of aggravated assault.
"I found the defendant’s evidence unreliable and unconvincing," she said.
"I found that the defendant’s behaviour fell markedly below the minimum standards expected of a police officer."
The officer also used force against a man at the unit and was found guilty of assaulting him.
Neilson-Scott has been serving in the Northern Territory police force since 2007.
