They’ve won nine of the last ten State of Origin series and finally, Queensland Origin legend Wally Lewis has revealed exactly what sets Queensland apart from New South Wales.
Speaking on NITV’s League Nation Live, Lewis said it was the support of the Maroons fans that makes the difference, with the legion of New South Wales fans too quick to turn on their side.
“I thought there was one difference between the New South Welshman and the Queenslanders.
“At the end of the game if the Blues lost, their fans would give it to them until the cows come home.
“If Queensland lost it was always bad luck and we’ll support you next time and they always certainly did that. They were always wonderful in support,” said Lewis.
With tickets sale sluggish ahead of next week’s Origin opener in Sydney, special ticket promotions and giveaways have been needed to see ANZ Stadium anywhere near capacity, which may give rise to Lewis’ point.

But whilst Blues fans might be unsure of their states chances, Lewis has warned Queensland not to underestimate Laurie Daley’s New South Wales team.
“I think it’s going to be a hell of a lot tougher than most people expect.
“Everyone is suggesting that Queensland is going to do it, and do it quite comfortable, but this New South Wales side is a good one.
“Never tell them they cant win, we don’t want to give them anything to work with,” Lewis said.
