A group of 11 indigenous Australians has become the first team of indigenous Australians take part in the New York Marathon.
Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai took advantage of the ideal conditions to smash the men's record and win the race, with Ethiopia's Firehiwot Dado taking the women's honours.
Mutai ran the course in 2 hours, five minutes and six seconds, and Dado took 2 hours, 23 minutes and 15 seconds.
Aussie wheelchair athlete Kurt Fearnley finished second in his event, after some steering mechanism problems.
Living Black's Karla Grant was in the Big Apple for the race.
