Born in 1990 in Ontario, Canada, Brett Dier took to performing at an early age, playing the piano and guitar. His first on-screen role was playing family son Matt Peterson, in the TV movie "Family in Hiding" (Lifetime, 2006). After playing supporting roles in movies including "Battle in Seattle" (2007) and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" (2011) and guest roles on TV shows such as "Smallville" (WB, 2001-2011), and "Flashpoint" (CTV, 2008-2012), Dier landed his first recurring role on the popular Canadian teen sitcom "Mr. Young" (YTV, 2011-13). Dier's first series regular role was as Luke Matheson on the "Pretty Little Liars" (ABC Family, 2010- ) spin off "Ravenswood" (ABC Family, 2013-14). After recurring roles on "The L.A. Complex" (The CW, 2012) and the Canadian period drama "Bomb Girls" (Univision Canada, 2012-2013), he earned a series regular role on the critically-acclaimed comedy-drama "Jane the Virgin" (The CW, 2014- ). On the show, Dier played Det. Michael Cordero, Jr, ex-fiancée to Jane, who still holds a candle for her.
