From a young age, Joseph Gilgun knew what he wanted to do. The British actor started attending acting workshops as an adolescent, which led him to his first TV role at the age of 10 on the United Kingdom soap opera "Coronation Street" (ITV 1960- ). After three years on the show, Gilgun left and, for nearly a decade, stopped chasing his young dream of acting aside from a few stage roles. In lieu of that, he turned to fashion design, briefly studying it at Runshaw College before dropping out. Rudderless, Gilgun worked as a plasterer until he landed a few roles in the mid-2000s. He starred in the soap opera "Emmerdale" (ITV 1972- ), where he appeared from 2006 to 2010, as well as the mini-series "This Is England" (2006). "This Is England" featured three follow-up series as well, following the same characters. In 2011, Gilgun joined the cast of the sci-fi show "Misfits" (E4 2009-2013) for its final three seasons. He expanded into more mainstream film around the same time, landing roles in the Luc Besson flick "Lockout" (2012) and the Vin Diesel-starring action movie "The Last Witch Hunter" (2015). Gilgun was a part of the main cast of the comic book adaptation "Preacher" (AMC 2016- ), starring as the Irish vampire Cassidy.
