Recurring parts and guest appearances on television series during the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s led to Suleka Mathew being cast in "Da Vinci's Inquest," a Canadian drama in which she played Dr. Sunita ''Sunny'' Ramen. The series revolved around a coroner and former police officer who attempts to solve crimes alongside other medical professionals, one of whom was played my Mathew from 1998 to 2003. After leaving "Da Vinci's Inquest," she continued to work mostly in television, co-starring in the quirky series "Men in Trees" as a single mother in a small Alaskan town, and in the acclaimed medical drama "Hawthorne."
