China Moo-Young is a rising English director working in television. A graduate of Bristol University's Film, Theatre and Television program, Moo-Young works regularly in commercials and music videos, but has plenty of ambition toward directing films. In 2005 she wrote and directed the dramatic short "Liar," which starred the relatively experienced actor Glenn Doherty; the two teamed up again in 2007, when he wrote the script for her next short, "Juvenile," a drama co-starring Doherty about a single father whose teenage daughter brings her boyfriend home to meet dad, and the tension that ensues. The film screened at the 2008 Sundance festival, putting Moo-Young's early work in front of an international audience. That same year she was tapped for dramatic television directing, starting with the drama "Coming Up," for which she directed one episode, and then in 2009, on the heels of winning a Breakthrough Brit award from the U.K. Film Council, Moo-Young advanced to three episodes of the BAFTA-winning, E4 comedy "Misfits," a series about the superpowers bestowed upon a group of teens doing community service. Moo-Young followed up that run with a recurring directing gig on the hot English drama, "Secret Diary of a Call Girl," in 2010.
