In his native India, the dark and athletic Akshay Kumar has carved out a successful career as both an action star and dramatic actor. With one of his earliest films, 1992's "Khiladi," he had an extremely lucrative hit that spawned several sequels. By the 2000s, he began to show his lighter side as an actor, and many of the comedies he starred in were hits, such as 2007's "Welcome," in which he played the nephew of a criminal family who gets embroiled in wacky hijinks. In the early 2010s, Kumar segued into producing while continuing to act in several productions per year.
