Jordan 0 - Morocco 4
Morocco has thumped Jordan 4-0 at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium to qualify for the quarter-finals of the FIFA Arab Cup 2021.
The Atlas Lions, winners of the last edition of the Arab Cup, put on a dominating performance ensuring their unbeaten run in 2021 to 21 games.
Goals from Yahaya Jabrane, Badr Baoun, Mohammed Chirbi, and Soufianne Rahimi ensured the North Africans cruise into the knockout stage with eight goals from two matches.
Jordan now has to get a result from their final group match against Palestine.
Lebanon 0 - Algeria 2
Second-half goals from Yacine Brahimi and Tayeb Meziani sealed Algeria's spot in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Arab Cup with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Lebanon at the Al Janoub Stadium.
The Desert Foxes were favourites to win but faced stiff opposition from the Lebanese side who lacked the cutting-edge in the attack.
Lebanon had lost their opening match by a lone goal to Egypt while Algeria's 4-0 win over Sudan ensures they go into their final group match against Egypt with qualification secured.
Palestine 1 - Saudi Arabia 1
A late equaliser has helped Saudi Arabia keep their hopes of reaching the knockout round of the Arab Cup alive in a 1-1 draw with Palestine at Education City Stadium.
Rashid Mohammed scored his first-ever international goal in the dying stages of the first half to give Palestine a 1-0 lead at the break.
It was a stunning strike from the 26-year-old who hit the back of the net with a right-footed rocket from 30-yards out.
Saudi Arabia was eyeing an early exit from the tournament with only ten minutes left in the match, but substitute Abdullah Alhamddan saved the day in the 81st minute with a crucial goal.
The draw leaves three teams fighting for second place in Group C and a spot in the quarter-finals with one more match to be played.
Sudan 0 - Egypt 5
African powerhouses Egypt have eased into the quarter-finals of the FIFA Arab Cup with a 5-0 win against Sudan at Doha's Stadium 974 on Sunday (AEDT).
The starting XI saw many surprises with Hussein Faisal and Marwan Hamdi starting up front, with Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Ahmed Refaat playing on the wing.
Skipper Amr El-Sulya had an unusual partner in midfield in Ayman Ashraf, while the four-man defensive line consisted of Ahmed Fetouh, Ahmed Hegazi, Mahmoud Hamdi El-Wensh, and Omar Kamal, and as usual Mohamed El-Shennawy started between the sticks.
Ahmed Refeaat opened the scoring with a sensational left-foot volley only four minutes in before Zizo doubled their advantage in the 13th minute.
Mahmoud Hamdy stretched the Egyptians lead 15 minutes before the interval setting them up with a 3-0 lead going into half-time.
To make matters even worse for the Sudanese side, Yaser Muzmel was shown a straight red card in the 45th minute following a violent tackle on Ayman Ashraf.
Carlos Queiroz’s men kept on piling up the pressure in the second half, which saw Faris Abdalla receiving two yellow cards inside just three minutes for Sudan to continue the game from the 53rd minute with nine men.
Hussein Faisal added to Sudan's woes when he made it 4-0 after 57 minutes and Mohamed Sherif scored Egypt's fifth ten minutes from full time to wrap up the win.
