Eighteen months after a proposed switch to Denmark’s AGF Aarhus fell over at the eleventh hour, the Western Sydney Wanderers number six is finally destined to fulfill his dream of playing in Europe.
There was also interest from elsewhere on the continent but Baccus, 22, has opted for the Budapest-based outfit which has dominated domestic football down the years, amassing 32 championships.
Ferencvaros stormed to this season’s Nemzeti Bajnokság I by a 20-point margin, and have been tracking Baccus for some time.
It’s understood they view Baccus - who is contracted with Wanderers until mid-2022 - as a player they can mould into a finished product they will be able to capitalise on with a future on-sale elsewhere.
The recent arrival of Steven Ugarkovic from Newcastle Jets has made him dispensable at Wanderland, where he will play out the remainder of the season before jetting to Europe on a multi-year contract.
The Wanderers academy product has made 24 appearances this season and a total of 85 in the A-League since breaking into the senior set-up five years ago.
