The Victory are chasing their first W-League championship since 2014 and will have added motivation after falling to the Sky Blues on the final day of the regular season.
Teresa Polias and Princess Ibini were both on target in Sydney’s 2-1 victory at Cromer Park, and though that result helped secure them the Premiers’ Plate, Beard believes Sunday’s rematch will be different.
“In terms of the grand final, I think something that we have going for us – especially after the loss last Wednesday – is a bit of redemption; a bit of revenge that we’re kind of hunting,” Beard said during Wednesday’s episode of The World Game Live.
“We may have lost one chance to get that premiership plate, but the championship is still up for grabs.”
Jeff Hopkins’ side quickly rediscovered their form against Brisbane Roar in last weekend's semi-final, firing in six goals courtesy of Catherine Zimmerman, a Lisa De Vanna double and Melina Ayres hat-trick.
Such a result would serve as the perfect tonic to a Big Blue defeat, and Beard and co. will no doubt feel a performance of similar ilk will be enough to hoist the W-League trophy at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
