Visually the game has made massive steps from previous iterations of FIFA. Photo-realistic player models and detailed stadiums create an incredibly lifelike experience for gamers.
Player animations have also been improved with no signs of awkward running or the usual glitching which has plagued older versions of the game.
Commentary has improved and rarely sounds tired or repetitive. EA Sports has pledged to release new commentary updates throughout the season to keep the game sounding fresh.
Also standing out is the attention to detail paid to the major European leagues.
Playing in the Premier League looks and feels different to Germany's Bundesliga and Italy's Serie A.
From different broadcast skins to style of football, the attention to detail should be applauded.
Many fans complained about the style of play in FIFA 16 and developers have responded with tweaks to gameplay in FIFA 17.
This year's game is fast. Very fast.
The enhanced speed of game play combined with smarter AI team mates makes games more likely to end in high scoring shootouts than dour scoreless draws.
The speed of the game is also one of its biggest downfalls.
It can feel at times as if there is a right and wrong way to play FIFA 17 with building momentum and a Tiki-Taka style not rewarded as much as a direct, all guns blazing approach.
'The Journey' single player story mode is one feature which sets FIFA 17 apart.
Taking the reigns of up and coming prospect Alex Hunter, players go through an entire Premier League season living out the highs and lows of life as a professional footballer.
While there is some structured points to 'The Journey' mode, the majority of events are dictated by the decisions you make on and off the pitch.
The mode is not like anything featured in a FIFA game before and provides a great change up from traditional play now or career modes.
The only downside to 'The Journey' is its limited life span with not much reason to return to the game mode once you finish it. 
Ultimate Team has also received an overhaul with new tasks and goals for players which are both entertaining and rewarding.
Overall FIFA 17 is a super slick offering from EA Sports which has plenty for longtime FIFA fans and newcomers.
While single player offerings such as the Journey are a nice new addition to the game, the faster game play makes it better suited to multiplayer sessions with friends.
Most of the issues from previous iterations have been ironed out but there are a few which remain.
