Gaze will join four-time Olympian Shane Heal and former NBL MVP Corey `Homicide’ Williams for the seven-game series starting in Perth tomorrow, Friday 16 August when the Australian Boomers play Canada.
They will be joined courtside for the opening Australia v USA Basketball game at Marvel Stadium on 22 August by Melbourne Vixens and Australian Diamonds star Renae Ingles.
Veteran NBL and basketball commentator John Casey will call all seven games with former New Zealand NBL star Casey Frank to join the commentary team for the two games featuring the New Zealand Tall Blacks against Canada Basketball at the Quaycentre in Sydney on 20 and 21 August.
Gaze played 612 NBL games for the Melbourne Tigers, won the league MVP award a record seven times and is the NBL’s all-time leading scorer with 18,908 points. He recently completed a three-year coaching stint at the Sydney Kings, leading them to the finals last season.
“These are going to be the biggest basketball events ever staged in Australia and I’m delighted to be joining the commentary team to bring all the action live on SBS VICELAND and SBS On Demand," Gaze said.
“Fans will have a chance to watch some of the best players from around the world including a number of NBA and NBL stars who will line up for the Boomers ahead of this month’s FIBA World Cup.”
SBS VICELAND will broadcast live, free and in HD all four games featuring Australia and the USA v Canada game on August 26. All seven games will be available live and free on SBS’s streaming platform SBS On Demand.
