"So I'm finally able to confirm that I'll be joining Trek-Segafredo next season," he said on the video posted to Trek- Segafredo's social media channels overnight.
"Which for me is exciting news. I'm really looking forward to joining the team, it's a great team and I think it's a great fit so I'm just looking forward to getting things started January 1st
"But at the same time I have to say thanks to BMC racing team to staff and riders - it's been a hell of a journey and I've really enjoyed the last three years."
The Tasmanian sat out the team presentation for the Vuelta a Espana due to a gastro issue, but should be raring to go for BMC in what is largely a race of redepemtion after crashing out of the Tour de France on Stage 9.
SBS will broadcast all stages of the 2018 Vuelta a España.
