The Ineos Grenadiers rider is currently preparing for the Tirreno-Adriatico after bidding his Australian endeavours farewell at the Santos Festival of Cycling last month.
Porte was more of a mentor in South Australia but will look to add at least one more WorldTour stage or overall victory for the tenth consecutive year in 2022.
“I go back (to Europe) and race Tirreno-Adriatico which is a race I’ve hardly ridden,” Porte said.
“I’ve raced it once and I’d love to win something like that in my last year.”
The 37-year-old last competed at the seven-stage event in 2014 but saw his time cut short after falling ill before the fifth stage.
Despite the unfinished business in Italy, however, Porte’s focus is stretching far beyond March's Race of the Two Seas.
“My goal is to at least win a bike race this year, somewhere,” he said.
“At the moment my last bike race will be the Tour of Britain (in September).”
