The Adelaide Track League is ready for another edition complementing the Tour Down Under, with a night of track racing featuring some of the world's top cyclists, with the women's endurance field especially impressive.
The field is replete with riders either expecting to challenge for a position in the Australian women's endurance team for the Olympics, or are currently riding World Tour teams on the road, or both. Georgia Baker, Alex Manly, Alyssa Polites, Chloe Moran, Maeve Plouffe and Amber Pate will all feature, but arguably the biggest name is American star Jennifer Valente.
Valente is the most decorated track cyclist in USA's history at the world championships, taking her 20th medal of the prestigious meet with her win in the omnium in 2023. She's likely in Australia early for the UCI Track Nations Cup to be held in early February and looking to get some racing in the legs against strong competition.
Amongst the other internationals gracing the boards are Jiali Liu of China, 11th in the Women's Omnium at the Tokyo Olympics, and Azizul Awang of Malaysia, 2nd in the Men's Keirin at the same Olympics. The flamboyant Malaysian personality will be well-known to Australian audiences, as he races and trains a lot in Australia.
The hallowed wooden boards of the Adelaide Super-Drome are home to generations of the Australian Cycling Team who train in the facility and who will be out in force representing the green and gold.
The event has enjoyed a growing reputation, particularly for the race days that match up with the Tour Down Under, offering some night-time action to match the day's activities on the road.
Adelaide Track League Event Director Lachie Ambrose expects 2024 to be the biggest edition yet.

We’re looking forward to seeing huge crowds at the Super-Drome to support the best Aussie Track Cyclists as they start the final leg of their journey towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”
