WATCH TAB Courtside 1v1 on SBS - episode 9 - with Megan Hustwaite and Vic Law from 7 pm (AEDT) on Thursday March 4 via , or catch up via or at the top of this article.
Law, who was born and raised in Chicago, joined the Bullets at the end of 2020 ahead of the 2020-2021 NBL season.
Speaking to Megan Hustwaite on TAB Courtside 1v1, Law said he knew Kangaroos weren’t jumping down the city’s streets but there was still plenty of wildlife to be cautious of.
“I knew that Australia was a beautiful place, tonnes of great beaches. But specifically where I am in Brisbane - everything there can kill you! You guys have 20 animals that are super deadly in Queensland alone,” Law said.
“You have snakes, spiders, jellyfish, the crocodiles, you name it. If you’re at the wrong place at the wrong time here you might just be unlucky.”
While the 25-year-old American might be intimidated off the court by some of our wildlife, he’s certainly not intimidated on the court.
Law has settled in well with the Bullets, averaging 19.7 points and 8.2 rebounds a game in his 10 appearances so far.
“I love the Bullets organisation. The whole staff and all my teammates have done such a good job of welcoming me in and just provided an atmosphere that's conducive to playing and feeling at home.”
“The NBL really puts an emphasis on physicality and team play. What was amazing to me is that every night you can expect a battle.
“Every team is coming in doing homework, scouting, they’re very well-coached, they have their own star talent and they're coming in every night playing super hard.
“You know, it's definitely a switch out from going for like 100 games now to 30 something games but there is a lot more rest on the body, a lot more game planning and a lot more structure.
“So I'm happy to be here, the NBL has been nothing but exciting so far. And I'm excited to see what the rest of this NBL Cup and the season has to offer.”
The interview was the latest as part of the new SBS series, TAB Courtside 1v1, hosted by Megan Hustwaite, giving fans a chance to get to know more about the unique personalities from the NBA, WNBA, NBL and WNBL, which help shape basketball in Australia.
