Gay comedian Joel Kim Booster is the mastermind behind an upcoming queer adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, set to be produced by Jax media - the company behind Netflix smash hit Russian Doll.
The "unapologetic, modern day rom-com" is titled Trip and will be set on Fire Island in New York, known as a gay holiday hub.
According to , the series will tell the story of two best friends "who set out to have a legendary week-long summer vacation with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends."
Booster, a stand-up comic who has starred in shows including The Other Two and Sunnyside, took to social media to share the news.
"For the last couple of years I’ve been threatening to pitch a gay Pride and Prejudice adaptation that takes place entirely on Fire Island and I finally found a platform foolish enough to do it!!" He tweeted.
He added: “I’m just laying the ground work for my real passion project: Persuasion, set on an [Atlantic] Cruise.”
Comedian Nick Kroll responded to the news: "Congrats Joel! Without making this about me, I’d like to play Keira Knightley’s Pomeranian who has to stay in the trailer most of the day."
Talk show host and producer Andy Cohen added: "This is my Game of Thrones".
