It was nominated for three Academy Awards this week but the true honour facing Luca Guadagnino's Call Me By Your Name is a special Valentine's Day dinner.
Yep, the in Brooklyn is hosting a four-course Call Me By Your Name-inspired dinner with paired drinks just in time for Valentine's Day.
The menu, created by the Drafthouse's chef Ronnie New, is inspired by the Italian countryside setting of the film as well as themes and reoccurring food-motifs from the film.
Much like , Guadagnino's camera is never too far from sensualising, romanticising or simply capturing the spirit of the film through food. Many of Call Me By Your Name's scenes pivot around the family at the table eating together.
The first three courses of Drafthouse's dinner are as follows:
Course 1
Soft Boiled Egg
smashed fava beans, capers, pickled onions, toast
paired with
Sbagliato Albicocca
Prosecco, Apricot, Campari, Sweet Vermouth
Course 2
Roasted Sardine
blistered tomatoes, fennel, fingerlings, pickled mustard seeds
Course 3
Ricotta Tortellini
Parmesan brodo, English peas, prosciutto, chard
paired with
Velenosi, Lacrima di Morro d’Alba
Italian varietal red wine
Sure but obviously the most notorious scene in the entire film is ~the peach scene~ which -- if you haven't seen the film yet feel free to check out all the terrible, brilliant jokes on Twitter to get a bit more info about what we're talking about.
Yep, the Drafthouse's romantic meal wouldn't be complete without an ode to Elio's peach, so to round out the menu they're serving a Peach Crostada with vanilla ice cream and peach pit drizzle.
Brilliant.
