1. All female cast

A fun mainstream blockbuster about a heist at the Met Gala with an all-female cast including Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and Mindy Kaling? How many ways can we love this? Oceans 8 joins a tide of female led and diverse films like Black Panther and Girls Trip looking to smash it at the box office and proving there's many ways to be bankable.

With #timesup and #metoo dominating the headlines and sombre protests in Hollywood - watching the Oceans 8  A-List cast rule the red carpet for the New York premiere is reassuring. A frame of the all-women power cast - featuring stalwarts like Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett with younger players like Rihanna and Mindy Kaling is an apt metaphor for the melding of old-school entertainment with the possibilities of a changing Hollywood.

2. Mindy Kaling

We know and love her from her work on her television series The Mindy Project. Kaling has been kicking goals in the past year, giving birth to her daughter Katherine and making her first foray into films including starring in the big-budget Disney movie, Wrinkle in Time, directed by Ava DuVernay and co-starring Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. 3. Rihanna

Riri who stars in Oceans 8 as hacker Nine Ball, is featured rocking dreads in a proud nod to the singer's own Afro-Carribean heritage. The singer’s hairstylist, Yusef Williams told  that Rihanna had input in the look.

“We thought it would be strong,” Williams said. “Her locs would maintain that tie to Africa. She’d keep her accent. She wasn’t just going to be some American girl in this movie. Nine Ball is still a Caribbean girl that just happens to be in America.”

4. Watching Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock occupy the same airspace
