When pop princess Kylie Minogue announced her arrival in Sydney earlier this week, the rumour mill went into overdrive that she was planning a surprise appearance at Saturday night's Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

The cat was then let out of the bag this morning by local drag fixture Minnie Cooper, who spilled the beans while appearing on Channel 7's The Morning Show.
And the gay icon didn't disappoint, posing for photographs with fans following a Kylie tribute float.

Wearing a shiny golden number and appearing alongside a number of drag queens, including Courtney Act, the singer was welcomed to Oxford Street with fireworks and applause - with numerous party-goers hoping she will later perform a set at the official After Party.
It is believed Minogue will sit down for an exclusive chat with comedian Joel Creasey during the SBS broadcast of the parade, airing tomorrow night at 8.35pm.

You can watch SBS On Demand's Thinking Queer collection , a collection of programs that explore the social, political and cultural issues facing the LGBTIQ+ community.

A live stream of the  Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade will be available on SBS On Demand, the account and page on Saturday March 2. SBS Arabic 24 will report live from the parade to Arabic-speaking audiences around Australia.

You can watch the SBS parade coverage on Sunday March 3 at 8.30pm.
